Fishheads was proud to have been involved in the Lapsforlife fundraiser, which aims to prevent youth suicide.

The event Lapsforlife swim challenge was held on March 18, 2023, at the Byron Bay Memorial pool. Swimmers were able to raise funds for the charity by swimming laps, with some of them managing to swim up to 10 kilometres.

Fishheads provided free use of the pool facilities and hosted a complimentary BBQ for all swimmers, while also contributing to the cause by encouraging non-swimmers to donate $30 to participate in the seafood BBQ on the day.

The fundraiser successfully raised $10,000 to support the charity.

We extend our gratitude to the Byron Bay Surf Club members, swimmers, organisers, and a special thanks to Michael Gudgen for their support in this event. It is truly remarkable what can be achieved when a community comes together for a great cause. Well done to all involved.

While the Lapsforlife fundraiser highlights community engagement, it also raises questions about the sustainability of such efforts. Charitable events like this rely heavily on participation and donations but often face challenges in long-term impact may provide a contrasting perspective on fundraising, emphasizing the need for diverse strategies to ensure ongoing support and awareness for critical issues like youth suicide.
